Command and Control of An Emergency/Major Incident & Defensible Decision Making
A one-day scenario-based training course to introduce the structure behind the Command and Control of an emergency/major incident response. The course introduces the Joint Emergency Services Interoperability Principles (JESIP) and the Joint Decision Model (JDM), in order to make and record defensible decisions. Aimed at individuals who may be required to undertake a command role, whether this be at Strategic (Gold), Tactical (Silver) or Operational (Bronze) level. Thereby, raising awareness and introducing the different aspects of the command structure (including multi agency working).
Major Incident Log Keeping
A one-day scenario-based training course to introduce best practice when creating an incident log. Aimed at individuals who may be required maintain logs during an incident. The course includes an overview of relevant legislation, provides knowledge around the importance of the role of log keeping and demonstrates how to complete a log. Thereby, raising awareness and introducing the different aspects of how to keep comprehensive logs during an incident.
Major Incident/Security Exercise
A one-day exercise to provide a refresher re the Joint Emergency Services Interoperability Principles (JESIP), Joint Decision Model (JDM) and International Ship and Port Security (ISPS). Followed by a multi-level paper feed exercise to simulate a complex Major Incident response followed by a comprehensive de-brief. Aimed at individuals who may be required to undertake a command role, at Strategic (Gold), Tactical (Silver) or Operational (Bronze) levels. Raising awareness re the different aspects of the command structure (including multi agency working) to seek learning around areas of improvement. Identifying key recommendations during the exercise and in a report provided afterwards.
Investigation – Recording/Securing Evidence & Statement Writing
A one-day scenario-based training course to introduce best practice when conducting an investigation. It is aimed at individuals who may be required to gather and prepare evidence from the beginning. This course includes an overview of relevant legislation, practical training on how to record and secure best evidence. Including the use of pocket notebooks, other recording methods and using effective techniques to ensure detailed statements are prepared to the highest evidential standard. Thereby, raising awareness and introducing the different aspects of an investigation and how to record and secure best evidence.
Interviewing – Witnesses & Suspects
A one-day scenario-based training course to introduce best practice when interviewing witnesses and suspects. Aimed at individuals who may be required to interview either witnesses or suspects to gather and prepare evidence as part of an investigation. The course includes an overview of relevant legislation and effective interview models, along with practical training on how to structure interviews. Additional areas covered include the principles of investigative interviewing. Thereby, raising awareness and introducing the different aspects of how to interview and how to secure best evidence.
Major Incident Media & Communications
A one-day training course for organisations providing an overview of where media sits within the Command and Control of a Major Incident. The course includes an overview of the principles of communication in a crisis, development of media strategies and identifying key messages/narratives. Includes practical experience of a media interview. Aimed at individuals who may be required to prepare and communicate messages on behalf of their organisation during a Major Incident response. Thereby, raising awareness and introducing the different aspects of how to interact with external media organisations and partner agency communications teams during a Major Incident.
Conflict Management & Recording Evidence
A one-day scenario-based training course for organisations to introduce best practice when dealing with situations involving conflict and recording such interactions. It is aimed at individuals who may be required to deal with confrontation in a work environment. This course includes an overview of relevant legislation, an introduction to models that aid in conflict management/decision making, practical skills on how to defuse a situation, the importance of communication skills and best practice on how to appropriately record such interactions.
